Mohja Kahf, born in Syria, poet, novelist, and scholar, was honored in 2018 by the Democratic Black Caucus of Northwest Arkansas for Lifetime Achievement in Inclusion in Education. A professor of comparative literature and Middle East studies at the University of Arkansas on lands of the Osage and Quapaw nations, she is a winner of the Pushcart Prize for her writing, which has been translated into Turkish, Japanese, Italian, Arabic, German, Portuguese, Urdu, and French.
