JANETTE HABEL is a political scientist, who specializes in Cuban and Latin American affairs. She is a Senior Lecturer (Maître de Conférences) and also a researcher at the Institut des Hautes Etudes d’Amérique latine (IHEAL), University of Paris III, and a member of the Scientific Council of the Institut La Boétie. She is a contributor to Le Monde diplomatique, Contretemps, Viento Sur, Jacobin America Latina, and other print and online media. She is the author of The Revolution in Peril (Verso) .
