Ellen David Friedman has been a labor organizer for about fifty years, including 10 years working in China between 2005-2015, when she was detained by authorities and instructed to leave the country. She has served as the board chair of Labor Notes for about a decade, and provides teaching, training, support, and encouragement to workers attempting to democratize their unions.
